SUMMARY of “The Box of Robbers”

Nobody wanted to leave Martha purposely in that afternoon, but unfortunately they leave her alone with some reasons. While anyone left her alone, she did her own activities and wanted to “Play Visiting” with her favorite dolls at the last. Then she remembered that there was a doll’s play house which hadn’t been used for a long time in the attic. She decided to take it. Well it seems the doll’s play house had been moved. But after looking all over the attic, finally she found it away over in a corner near the big chimney. Suddenly something attracted her; it was a huge chest belonged to her uncle which had been sent over from Italy a long time ago. She was quite curious with the chest. Then she remembered that there’s no key for it, because her uncle wanted it unopened until he went back home. Martha knew that her uncle would never back to home, so she tried to open it. She took a big basket of keys and tried the keys one by one to the chest, and finally she could open it. She was very happy, but it was just for a while. Something freak and strange came up from the chest. That was a tall and thin man. Then, another man with a middle size came up, and the last man was short and fat. All of them were in a bad tanned face, and dressed in curious manner. It made her shock. She asked who they were. The three man greeted her, then introduced themselves that they were Italian bandits and terrible. While in a conversation, Martha spoke thoughtlessly and the three men threaten her. Martha told them that they were no longer as bandits, because they were in America. The three man shocked and bewildered by the announcement. They thought for a while whether they could rob or not in that country. Martha suggested some jobs to them, but unfortunately, they ignored it. It was surprising when one of them decided to begin robbing the house they were in.They were completed with pistols and knives, left Martha in trembling and started to rob the house. Just in a short span of time, all the men went back to the attic, with some things in their hands. They said that they needed a cave to save the things, and asked if there was a cave near there. Martha said that it was too far from her house. While they were talking, suddenly the bell rang. Martha saw it was only a postman, but suddenly he got an idea to deceive the three men by saying that it was police and they were all armed well. The three men were hopeless knowing that they could not pass it anyway. While they were all confused, Martha said that she could save them by asking them to go back into the chest. She said she would close it, so the police wouldn’t find them. All the men trusted her, and go back into the chest. Martha closed the lid and pressed it down with her weight, and finally locked it with key.
